Celebrating the young of Bexhill was the aim behind the Lions Youth Award presentation at the Town Hall.
Town Mayor Councillor Paul Lendon attended the event in the committee room and recalled how, as a youngster, he had connections with many of the groups present.

"It's good to see so many of you here this evening", he commented, "and I hope that you'll take the opportunity to exchange ideas and plans, because it's not often you have the chance to see how your various activities can join up for the greater benefit of Bexhill's young people."

Cllr Lendon presented Lions awards cheques to:

Bexhill Young Peoples Services, towards equipment and materials for their Youth Club.
Bexhill Swimming Club, for new pool-side benches and a PA system.
Bexhill Youth and Community Centre, towards new kitchen equipment.
Bexhill United Youth Football Club, setting up training for first aid and volunteer coaches.
Hope Café, for an open air Youth Music festival in Egerton Park.
Bexhill Rowing Club Juniors, towards the cost of equipment for a new Quad boats.
2nd Bexhill Scout Group, to help set up a new computer room.
