FLUFF in a gas-fired clothes drier is believed to have been the cause of a small fire in the laundry beneath The Sackville flats complex at De La Warr Parade.
Firefighters from both Bexhill and Hastings were called after the building's fire alarm system was triggered at abot 9pm on Tuesday.
However, the Hastings crew was turned back en route when Bexhill colleagues discovered the limited nature of the fire. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly doused the fire with a hosereel without the need to evacuate the building.
