Sewage works fight continues

PROTESTERS against a sewage works in Peacehaven have vowed to fight on despite it winning the go-head from East Sussex County Council.
Six hundred people packed the Meridian Centre, Peacehaven, on Tuesday for a meeting of PROUD (Peacehaven Residents Opposed to Urban Development) to discuss the £300 million Southern Water treatment works to be built at Lower Hoddern Farm, Peacehaven.
Residents at the meeting voted unanimously to continue the fight by petitioning Secretary of State Hazel Blears who will have the final say on the decision.
Members also set up a fighting fund and an initial donation of £565 was made by supporters
The next meeting of PROUD is Wednesday September 17 in the Meridian Centre at 7.30pm.
