THE theme for the June meeting of the newly-formed Ashburnham & Penhurst Gardening Club was 'Container Gardening'.
After looking at a variety of containers and considering their particular features and suitabilities, we discussed the issues surrounding the use of containers in gardens, such as the pros and cons of various types of container; what to fill containers with; and the best plants to grow in them. In the first of a monthly series we were then given an overview of the key garden tasks that need tackling in July, before a time of open discussion and questions on various gardening topics.

The club meets in the Church Hall at Ashburnham Place, and the next meeting takes place on Monday, July 28 at 7.30pm, when the topic will be 'Summer Pruning'.

The cost is £2 a month, including refreshments.

Whether your garden is big, small, or simply a window box, and whether you know a lot, a little, or nothing about gardening, all are welcome! If you have any questions about the club then please contact Rhod Jones on 01424 892689.
