WITH the concert at St Leonards Parish Church tomorrow (Saturday) Battle Choral Society's last rehearsals are of vital importance.
We only get a few hours on the day to rehearse with the orchestra and it is crucial that they hear us and also that we hear them after months of rehearsals accompanied only by a piano. Suddenly everything can sound very different.

At our Monday re
hearsals accompanist, Duncan Reid, helps enormously as John Langridge, director of music, steers the choir through what can be extremely complicated words, music and tempi.

It is hugely helpful to have Duncan playing all the right notes and in the right order!

When a fugue 'hits the buffers' it is Duncan who gets us back on the 'right track' skilfully interpreting all John's directions.

Hitting the right high note can be a real challenge but John encourages us with 'Oh you'll be alright on the night with the wind behind you'!

We are very much looking forward to returning to St Leonards Parish Church.

It is a very user-friendly open space, comfortable for the choir, orchestra and audience alike with even a 'bar' area at the back which makes serving interval refreshments to the several hundred people so much easier.

Once again we are most grateful to the church members for their help and assistance.

The choir will perform Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass and Bach's Magnificat.

Our organist, Keith Warner, will celebrate his 25 years of association with the Society by performing Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor.
Tickets at £10 each will be available at the door and the performance will start at 7.30pm.

There is a large car park on the seafront opposite the church but do note that tickets are now required to be purchased up to 9pm.
