THE May meeting of the club was a flower demonstration by Bunty Stanard who travelled from Cobham, in Surrey, to entertain members with her interpretation in flowers and foliage of her 'Bright Ideas'.
Her first placement was on an oriental theme, with three yellow square vases of varying sizes each fitted into the other creating a pagoda type tower.

Gold roses with wire wrapped around the stems were placed standing tall in the top container to
fill in blue hydrangea, yellow gerbera, rosemary and conifer.

To finish off gold wire, this matched the stems of the roses, was threaded through the arrangement.

Bunty had bartered for and purchased a very lovely metal urn from an antique shop into which she arranged willow, cream cabbage roses and gerbera.

Folded begonia leaves and hypericum berries were used to fill in.
To end with, a wow factor chocolate brown anthuriums were added to this lovely picture.

On a tall iron stand our entertainer fixed a piece of black driftwood which fitted onto a piece of oasis which was accessible from all angles enabling flowers to be placed from every direction.

Aspidistra leaves were used to cover the sides.

Green carnations and deep red gerbera were placed into the top with a beautiful green and deep red orchid coming down through the base of the fixture.

Notices were given out. The club will be celebrating 55 years at the October meeting.

The August evening meal will be at The Brickwall Hotel and two outings to flower festivals are available to members.

The club meets next on Tuesday, June 3, at Battle and Langton School, 7.30pm start, and it is a club competition. For more information, call 01424 830237.
