BEFORE the meeting commenced on Thursday, May 1, the president got all members up on to the stage for a group photograph to celebrate Catsfield's 90 years.
Jane then welcomed everyone to the resolutions meeting, including Pam and Joy, craft ladies from the ESFWI and a French lady guest. 'Jerusalem' was sung beautifully without accompaniment. Beryl Bodey, Mary Ryman and Patricia Speedy were thanked for t
he tea and Gwen Taylor was thanked for the flowers.

The president also drew attention to the display of craft talent from members.

A WI ramble was arranged for Tuesday, May 6 at 2pm from the car park, while members were reminded of the special tea for senior citizens on May 8 which had a 1918 theme, with helpers in suitable dress.

The Scrabble Group will meet on Thursday, May 15, at 2pm at Jacky Saxby's new home in Bexhill.

The report on the ESFWI annual Council Meeting at Eastbourne was given expertly by Joan Sellars, who, along with the others who attended, enjoyed it very much.

She made members laugh at the end when she reported that it is proposed WI members abseil down the Congress building and asked for volunteers!

The link delegate for the annual general meeting in June at Liverpool will be Mary Gibson, from Bodle Street Green. The resolutions for this meeting were then discussed and voted upon, as follows:-

1) "This meeting asks HM Government to urge the EU to ban bottom trawling, which cases catastrophic loss of marine life".
The vote was carried unanimously FOR the ban.

2) "In view of the adverse effect on families of the imprisonment of people with severe mental health problems, this meeting urges HM Government to provide treatment and therapy in a more appropriate and secure residential environment"

The vote was again carried unanimously FOR this resolution.
This information will be passed to the link delegate so that she may vote accordingly.

The craft ladies from Hailsham then advised members how they had come by all the fine exhibits from June Cox, of St. Leonards WI, which were on display. Jane Overall thanked them for attending with such wonderful items. All then enjoyed the delicious tea and the raffle brought the meeting to a close.

The next WI meeting, at the village hall on Thursday, June 5, at 2.30pm will be the Fun & Flower and Home Produce Show. So, it is hoped members' many talents will be blooming again.
