SO THAT new members could learn more about Sheila's life and work, Michael Bristow-Smith gave a fascinating, well-researched biography, accompanied by 80 slides, beginning with her childhood, when she travelled in a pony and trap with her father, visiting his patients in the nearby villages, then her early days as a writer and journalist in London and finally marrying and settling down at Little Doucegrove in Northiam.
In December, Alan Mitchell hosted his last Christmas p and, as usual, it was a lovely gathering, Alan will be an honoured guest at this year's party, of which more later.

We began the New Year with a quiz featuring Sussex writers and artists, that was seriously lighthearted!

At the next meeting on Saturday, February 9, Canon Charles Walker will give a talk entitled 'A Rural Idyll'.

March 13 is the date for our annual lunch at the Brickwall Hotel and on April 12 members will discuss Sheila's book 'Sussex Gorse', which is available from the library.

Members meet at Filsham Hall at the top of Filsham Road, at 2.30pm and newcomers are very welcome. Telephone the secretary on 422139 for more details.
