AT the May meeting of the society, members enjoyed a thoroughly interesting talk given by Mr. Harry Townsend, a technical director of the famous Kew Gardens.
This included a history of the gardens from their conception, through the ages and up to the present.

The talk was very inspiring and, in parts, amusing and witty.
It was also accompanied by a very nice selection of coloured slides, which showed Kew Gardens through the seasons and which Mr. Townsend had accumulated over several years. In all, it was a most enjoyable evening.
The monthly mini competition 'six fuchsia cuttings grown in an egg box' was won by Mrs. Fluff Muggridge.
