Mary Taylor, Holton Cottages

Thank you to everyone who used the Brownie delivery service this Christmas again this Christmas. They delivered over 500 cards and raised over £130 for Brownie funds. Well done to the girls for doing this every year, it is much appreciated by those who use this service.

The lunch at the village hall on Christmas day was once again great fun. 24 people sat down for lunch, who would otherwise have been on their own. The lunch was accompanied by carols between courses at which everyone joined in. Thank you helpers Samantha, Beth & Jasmin Birch, Keith Morrison-Williams, Celestine Swatton, Colin & Rob Swaine for giving up part or all of their Christmas day to help in all sorts of ways. Once again we are very grateful to Who singer, Roger Daltry for kindly donating the Turkey, and Eileen Craddock who gave us crackers. People are already looking forward to next Christmas.

Apologies are extended to anyone who turned out for the grand opening of the new play equipment at the Swan meadow playing fields. Because of the awful weather leading up to the date, the ground was water logged and new turf floating. The committee tried to let everyone know but if we missed you, we are very sorry. The opening will be planned for when the weather will hopefully be fine and the ground has had a chance to dry. In the meantime the children will be able to use the equipment and hopefully have many hours of enjoyment.

The next monthly quiz at the Pavilion in Burwash common, will take place tonight from 8pm. Teams of six are invited to join in this general knowledge evening. The licenced bar will be open and entrance fees are given as prizes. Call Karol Richardson for more detail on 01435 883318
