Iden

Marion Lovell, Abingworth, New England Lane

Iden had its lovely Carols and Readings service last Tuesday, and the school Nativity play on two afternoons. All were very well supported, but happened after this was written.

The Christingle Service was raising funds for The Children’s Society, and took place last Sunday.

There is a box in Iden Stores for used stamps, which you could tear off leaving about half an inch of envelope. They will be recycled to raise funds., I think for Guide Dogs.

Today, Friday, is the shortest day of the year, or the mid-winter solstice. No wonder that ‘the ancients’ celebrated with bonfires hoping to re-kindle the sun ! But we should now see the hours of daylight gradually increase. Look out for this phenomenon.

The 9.30 am service on Christmas Day will be a Family Service.

For the next two weeks there will not be any mid-week services in church.

The 9.30 am service this Sunday, 23rd, will welcome Rev. Geoffrey Scott as celebrant and preacher.

May I take this opportunity to wish anyone who has read this far, a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
