Mr Scrooge and the Sprits of Christmas First is the intriguing title of a presentation to be made by the Shades theatre company at St Mary’s Church this evening (Friday). Entry is just £2.50 on the door, with under 14s free. To get you further into the festive mood, there will be mulled wine and mince pies afterwards. Everyone is very welcome, the production starts at 7.30pm, and the best seats will go first!!

The badminton clubs are held in the Pretious Sports Hall on Fridays. 5.30pm for Primary school-age, 6.30pm for Secondary school-age. The adult club starts at 8pm. Dance Club is in the Village Hall at 7.30pm for Sequence Dancing.

Brickwall Music and Arts Society meet in Beckley Village Hall for a concert by The Primavera Chamber Ensemble. Members are promised a beguiling mix of violin, ‘cello and piano pieces ranging from Schumann to Faure. On Monday, there’s Bridge Club in the Jenkins Room at 2pm, with badminton in the Pretious Sports Hall at 5.45pm, and Zumba at 8.15pm.

The Over 60s will enjoy their annual Sister Miller Christmas Lunch at The Wheatsheaf on Tuesday.

Coffee Stop opens the doors of the Church Centre each Wednesday between 10am and midday for a cuppa and a chat.

The Primary School hold their Christmas Carol Service on Thursday, and for the rest of us, Carols by Candlelight will be at 6.30pm on Sunday 23rd, with the Crib Service at 4pm on Christmas Eve.

A note that Northiam Library will be closed on Thursday 27th December, but open again on Saturday 29th. As everyone will be reading their Christmas books, I think we will allow them one day off a year!! The Library Volunteers wish all their Readers a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful, healthy New Year, and look forward to seeing everyone in 2013. If you haven’t discovered our library yet, do pop in on a Thursday or Saturday afternoon 2-4pm, next to the Parish Office.

A large crowd met by the Parish Christmas Tree last Wednesday to sing carols before repairing to the church hall for a lovely spread to accompany mulled wine. It was a lovely occasion.

Northiam Bonfire Society held its second meeting on Monday 10th in its spiritual home, The Muddy Duck.
