Peasmarsh

Mary Hitchins, 2 The Old Hop Gardens

Apologies from the Peasmarsh Periodical to the Village Society which has not closed and will be holding its next meeting on January 14.

Now that the Christmas holiday season is over activities in the village are getting back to normal. Work has recommenced at the Memorial Hall. Meanwhile Brownies, Guides, Youth in Motion, and Zumba are meeting at the Maltings Pavilion. If you need to hire a venue for a local event, whether it is a “one-off” or an ongoing activity you can book the pavilion and find out more about bookings etc either through Jacqueline Brooks who is the Hall caretaker at jacqueline@brooks68.orangehome.co.uk 01797 222654 or Julie Masters, caretaker at the Pavilion on 07838 588873.

Please respond to the “Volunteer” appeal which is being delivered across the village and can be returned either to Jempson’s Superstore or to the box outside Spindlewood (next to the Memorial Hall) There is a huge need for volunteers to help with a range of projects in the village and with exciting additional activities planned following the re-opening of the hall the more volunteers the better.

Work will be starting on the organ at the church next week. It should be possible for the church to remain open during this work, but if it becomes necessary to lock it during the week please be assured that this will only be a temporary measure.

Can I politely remind everyone (with a dog!) that we do have a dog waste bin at the corner of The Maltings and it is a shame not to use it. Thank you.

The Rye and District Association of the National Trust will be holding their first talk of the year on January 17 at Beckley Village hall, starting at 2.30pm. The talk will be given by Laton Frewen who will present ‘The Gunpowder Plot’. The entrance fee of £2 (members) and £3 (non-members) includes refreshments after the talk.

The service this Sunday at Peasmarsh church will be Holy Eucharist at 3pm, both the 8am and 10am services will be at Beckley.
