The Church Christmas Tree Festival starts on Sunday, December 16, and we hope that lots of visitors will call in to the Church as part of their visit to see the Westfield Christmas lights. Donations for St Michael’s Hospice will be appreciated, and will be added to the collections made along Church Lane.

The WCA Carols Round the Christmas Tree was well supported last Friday, with well over 150 people gathering to sing community carols. This event has been taking place for some 38 years. Thank you to the musicians, and to Jean and Wilf Tomsett for hosting this and for providing the delicious and most welcome soup afterwards. This was also the ‘official’ evening for switching on the Christmas lights. Have you been round the village to admire them? Those along the main road are the most noticeable to those passing through the village, but there are lots of other wonderful lights in the rest of the parish. Do have a walk round all the roads, and remember to support the collection for St Michael’s Hospice if you have enjoyed the lights. Around £23,000 has been raised during recent years. The Westfield lights have become quite famous, and were featured on both local radio and TV last Friday.

The Westfield HUB meets at ‘The Plough’ on Fridays from 10am to 12noon, and continues to be very well supported. Pop in for coffee and a chat, and use the book exchange and computer. There will be carol singing and seasonal refreshments on Friday, December 21 at 11am.

The Friendship Club meets in the Parish Hall on alternate Mondays from 2-3.30pm, offering an opportunity to make friends and enjoy some outings. Meetings after the Christmas break start on Monday, January 7, and new members will be made very welcome.

Westfield Football Club is looking for help with support in providing football for all ages. If you feel you could help either in preparation or during games, please get in contact with the club. They are holding their Christmas Draw and Party Night on Saturday, December 22.

Westfield Golf Fellowship’s next event is the final event on the ‘Race to Headcorn’ at the Weald of Kent on Thursday, December 27. For more information please telephone Nick on 07939 587796 or email george@roker.f9.co.uk
