HELP and advice are to be available across Eastbourne for Stop Smoking Day next Wednesday.
Smokers can monitor their carbon monoxide levels, learn how people become addicted to smoking and access free information on quitting and nicotine replacement products.
East Sussex Stop Smoking Service will have a stand in the main reception of the
DGH and displays in Boots in the Arndale Centre and Tesco in North Street, Hailsham, from 10am to 2pm.
Other events will take place at GPs' surgeries, health centres, schools, colleges and community venues.
Claire Chappell, Stop Smoking specialist adviser, said, "Research shows that around 50 per cent of people who use their local NHS stop smoking service have successfully quit four weeks later.
"So, if you really want to give up, come along to one of our events on March 11 or call the East Sussex Stop Smoking team on 0800 917 8896, because the chances of reaching your goal are much greater with the right help."
The service offers one-to-one appointments and specialist help for pregnant women and can visit workplaces and colleges. Those who manage to give up smoking through the service before March 31 and keep it up for four weeks will receive a £30 supermarket voucher.
