The diagnostic teams from across the Trust in endoscopy, radiology and histology have won this month's staff award for their work in reducing waiting times.
Around 200 staff work in these teams and representatives from each area attended the Trust Board meeting to receive their award.

Their nomination read, "These teams have showed huge commitment to working collaboratively cross site, and to ensuring diagnostic support that has enabled the Trust to hit the 18-week target.

"Waits have been reduced in diagnostic areas by well over 100 per cent compared to a year ago and patient care has been enhanced by providing speedier access to the diagnostic testing.

"Average waits for diagnostics are now down to three to four weeks in most disciplines, which is an enormous improvement, and the result of sheer hard work and commitment to making change happen."

Reducing the wait for a diagnostic test has been an important element in helping to reduce the time patients wait from referral by their GP to their first definitive treatment to 18 weeks.
