A CONTRACTOR who electrocuted himself on an underground power cable is receiving hospital treatment for burns at East Grinstead.

The East Sussex County Council worker, who is in his 50s, was carrying out fencing work in the Shinewater Park area when he unearthed an EDF electricity cable which was live.
Fire crews and ambulance services rushed to the scene at Jubilee Way at around 11.30am on Friday (June 27) and found the man with burns to his arms and face.
He was taken to Eastbourne DGH but later transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for specialist treatment.
A spokesperson from East Sussex County Council said, "Fortunately the member of staff is making a good recovery in hospital. A county council investigation is currently under way into the incident.
"We apologise to any residents who were affected by the temporary loss of power in some parts of the town."
The accident brought down power for thousands of residents in the Langney and Sovereign Harbour area.
EDF engineers restored supplies to all homes by around 2.30pm the same day.
