HASTINGS Priory were brought crashing back down to earth in the second round of fixtures in the Sussex Cricket League.
A week after storming to a nine wicket win at defending champions Brighton & Hove, Priory found themselves on the receiving end of a humbling 176-run reverse in their Premier Division encounter away to Preston Nomads.
The home side amassed a dau
nting 298-6 as some wayward bowling allowed the likes of Michael Gould (67) and skipper Kashif Ibrahim (61) to pile on the runs. The pick of the bowlers was Mick Glazier with 3-81.
Priory were skittled out for just 122 in reply with their top scorer being Adam Maharaj-Newman on 35.
Bexhill celebrated their first win of the campaign by overhauling a daunting total at Roffey in Division Two.
Chasing an imposing 280-9, the visitors reached their target with four wickets to spare thanks to good knocks from Jonathan Haffenden (92) and Sam Aspin (50 not out). Chris Topp had earlier claimed 4-69.
Sidley suffered their second successive defeat when they went down by seven wickets at the hands of Worthing.
Elliott Bullock (73) top scored as Sidley totalled 243-9 but a maiden league century by veteran John Kaye (121 not out) meant Worthing romped to victory after only 39 overs of their reply.
