A celebration to mark 80 years of organised table tennis in the town proved a smashing success.
Around 200 people of all ages attended an afternoon of table tennis, fun and games at Summerfields Sports Centre.
And approximately 120 watched a fun exhibition by the 'Table Toppers' John Hilton (a former European champion) and Brian Kean (a former Scottish champion) afterwards.
It was all put together by the Hastings & District Table Tennis Association, whose chairman Andre Keen said: "We had no idea how it was going to go, but it was a superb day."
Although table tennis participation levels in Hastings still compare very favourably to other towns around the county, the Hastings &
District League is now down to three divisions having once been in double figures and the Association has long-since debated ways of arresting the decline.
So the Association was pleased that the vast majority in attendance either don't play the game or haven't played in a long time.
Keen wished to thank everyone who came along, including town MP Michael Foster, and all those who helped out with the organisational side of things.
