Five more people have been arrested at the site of a week-long environmental protest in Kent.
Two men were arrested at the camp at Hoo on suspicion of theft, one woman was arrested for driving while disqualified, one woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage and one man was arrested on suspicion of assault on pol
ice.
The 1,000 campaigners estimated to be at the site near Kingsnorth power station near Hoo are opposed to proposals by its owners, E.ON, to build a new on-site coal-fired facility, which would be the first such plant to be built in Britain for more than 30 years.
The Camp for Climate Action, which began with a march from Rochester on Sunday, has been marred by clashes between police and campaigners.
Officers confiscated enough weapons and other suspicious items to fill a lorry, after carrying out a search of trees and undergrowth surrounding the campsite on Monday evening.
Kent Police's Assistant Chief Constable Gary Beautridge said it was likely that a small minority of "hardcore protestors" were responsible for the weapons, which included a pointed throwing star and numerous knives.
Organisers of the camp accused police of conducting a "smear" campaign against protesters and insisted the only knives on site were ones to be used in the camp's kitchens.
