A BATTLE art gallery will extend its Olympic-themed art exhibition by one week due to ‘phenomenal public response’.

Saffron Gallery in the High Street is currently playing host to Louise Giblin ARBS’ Body Casting Olympians exhibition.

The world-leading body cast sculptor plastered five Great British Olympians to create life-sized torsos with intricately carved detail.

Louise worked closely with Olympians Kriss Akabusi MBE, double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes, Sally Gunnell OBE, three-times world champion gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE and Paralympian swimmer Darren Leach to create sculptures which represent the city of each athlete’s most cherished medal win.

The exhibition was scheduled to run throughout the London 2012 Olympic Games, but has proved so popular that the exhibition will continue until August 18.

Gallery opening times are 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
