Inspiring pieces by young dancers

Hastings Contemporary Youth Dance Company present an evening of innovative and original contemporary dance at The Stables Theatre, Hastings, from February 14 to 16.

The evening is entitled Beyond Words.

Contemporary dance is an art form that uses movement to express feelings and ideas.

These are portrayed in works from different starting points.

One is the wonderful world of Lewis Carroll in his poem Jabberwocky, set to music by Philip Glass.

Another is expressions and attitudes inspired by the works of the sculptor, Ernst Barlach, to the music of JS Bach, as well as other ideas such as the ‘Wheels of Time’, beginning in the 21st century.

The dance pieces are supported by a wide variety of urban, modern and traditional music.

The choreography is by the students themselves as well as collaborations with Sue Marshall.

Tickets are £12.50 for adults and £7.50 for concessions.

Call the box office on 01424 423221 or visit www.stables-theatre.co.uk to book tickets.
