Residents in Haywards Heath, who were eager to be the owners of the new Apple iPhone 3G, queued for hours this morning.
More than 50 people braved the rain and began lining up outside the O2 store on South Road, only to be told those at the back of the queue may not be successful.

Richard Cotes who had been queuing since 6.30am said everyone was keen to check out the latest technology on the new iPhone.

He said: "Some people are here for business reasons, others for personal. I am here because I can't wait to see what it does."

The new phone boasts 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, and support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange.

And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a phone, a widescreen iPod, and an Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser.

The phone is currently only available on the O2 network.
