Now in its 16th year, organisers are hoping this year's charity ride will continue its upward trend and attract a record 600 riders and break the £20,000 mark.

With all of the money raised going direct to Mid Sussex charities, the organisers are appealing to everyone to participate in the annual ride on June 8.

Gill Cronin, one of the organisers, said: "This year we are introducing three routes instead of two. We have introduced a 10 mile route which we hope will encourage more families to take part.

"This is such a great event and we really need the whole town to come out and support this flagship event."

Half of the proceeds are donated to St Peter and St James Hospice in North Chailey, and the other half split between Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath District Round Table and Burgess Hill District Lions.

Riders can choose between 10, 20, 40 mile routes which both go through nearby countryside departing from Oakmeeds Car Park. Individuals, families, groups of friends, and teams from local firms will be most welcome.

The cost of entry is £8 for adults and £4 for children (between the ages of 10 and 17 and must be accompanied by an adult).For safety reasons children under 10 years of age are not allowed to participate.
