Matthew Labbett, 25, of Nelson Road, punched Paul Golding several times in the chest and hit Craig Golding in the nose.

He was denied entry into Hastings and St leonards Rowing Club premises in White Rock.

Prosecutor Mark Kateley told Hastings magistrates on Tuesday: "For various reasons the defendant was told he could not come in and it was at that point that he became aggressive and turned violent.

"He punched the manager a number of times in the chest.

"There was concern for the manager as he has a pacemaker.

"His son intervened and went to his aid but the defendant turned his aggression on him and punched him in the nose.

"Mr Golding's son also sustained swelling and bruising to his face.

"A third person, Matthew Shepherd, tried to intervene but he was grabbed by the throat and pinned against the wall."

The incident happened on April 19 and Labbett was arrested nine days later after police traced him.

He told police he drank four cans of Strongbow and smoked marijuana on the day of the attack.

Labbett said he wanted to speak to a young woman inside but was told to pay a £15 entry charge.

He also alleged the door was closed on his foot and claimed he was pushed away so acted in self-defence.

Labbett appeared before magistrates on Tuesday in court and pleaded guilty to three charges of assault by beating.

Aiden Harvey, defending, asked magistrates to adjourn sentencing to a later date.

The case was put off until August 27 so pre-sentence reports could be drawn up.
