A teenager punched a man in the neck at a bus stop following an argument.
Shane Harmer, 19, of Beauchamp Road, St Leonards, attacked his victim after seeing him in Blackman Avenue while he was walking with his two friends.

Prosecutor Alison May said: "The aggrieved was at the bus stop with his girlfriend and children.

"Three men, one of them being the defendant, walked past him and there was an argument in relation to an incident some time ago.

"The victim was punched to the side of his neck. He pushed the defendant away from him and another punch was thrown in which the victim got swelling to his eye.

"In police interview the defendant said he had been in Blackman Avenue and was trying to break up an argument between the aggrieved and his friend."

Harmer pleaded guilty to assault by beating when he appeared before Hastings magistrates on Friday.

The incident happened on February 2.

Sam Wingfield, defending, said: "The defendant got involved in trying to break up an argument and was hit in elbow."

Magistrates gave Harmer an eight-week curfew order and must stay indoors between 8pm and 7am.

He must also pay £50 in compensation.
