PUPILS at Guestling’s Buckswood School celebrated A Level results higher than national average.

The school claims to have bucked the downward national trend in the number of pupils receiving A* - B grades with students achieving a record high with 54% receiving top grades, and 76% of students receiving A* - C grades; higher than local colleges.

Headmaster, Giles Sutton commented: “We have a ten year proven track record of solid A levels results, and I congratulate all our students on another year of high achievement.

“I am delighted that we have outperformed the national average and stand tall with our fellow local sixth form colleges. Our pupils are going on to study at some of the UK’s most prestigious Universities, studying a wide range of subjects, and I am proud that a Buckswood education has made a real difference to their futures.

“Notable scholars include Luke Smith who achieved three A*’s and an A, Fedor Pankratov A*AAC, Lisa Atfield ABB, Georgi Chikvilanze ABB, Morganne Fiddimore ABB and Amy Fisher ABB.

“Our cohort are again going onto to study a broad range of subjects including Business Management at Durham, Sports Rehabilitation at Loughborough, History at UCL and Rural Land Management at Royal Agricultural University of Cirencester.”

Staff and pupils are also celebrating a significant rise in GCSE performance in line with their A Level results, with many students achieving the highest A* grades.

Headteacher, Mark Redsell commented “I am very pleased with the increase in our GCSE performance. My teachers and I having been working extremely hard to continue to raise standards and my congratulations and thanks go to them and their pupils for this years results”.
