A-levels: Battle Abbey School students celebrate top results

Students at Battle Abbey School celebrated achieving top results in their A-levels today (Thursday, August 18).

David Clark, headteacher, said the school this year saw a ‘fantastic year’ for results.

He said: “Our A-level candidates have not only achieved a 98 per cent pass rate but in fact 67 per cent of all of today’s results were at A*, A and B grade with a stunning 10 per cent of all grades at A* - a school record.

“Special mention should go to Imogen Fricker, who scored an A* and two A grades and has been accepted to Girton College, Cambridge to study psychology, Jayde Zhu with four A* grades, who is off to read mathematics at Imperial, Grace Baszczak with four A* grades, who is going to Bath to study politics and international relations, and Lucy Everist who achieved an A* and two As, who is heading to Nottingham to read for a degree in psychology.

“Many of our students have been accepted to top Russell Group universities including Southampton, Bath, Leeds and Manchester with Samar Al-Shamaa off to study medicine at Kings College, London.

“Phoebe Crane has also been accepted to study medicine and will join Ben Jones who is studying veterinary science at Nottingham University.

“We are delighted too with the range of subjects that our students are taking at university level including architecture, international marketing, ancient history, French and German and environmental geology.

“Battle Abbey’s highly rated art faculty has also reached the heights again and five of our students have enrolled on foundation courses at the most prestigious art colleges in the country.

“Great credit goes of course to our teachers, pupils and parents for their phenomenal commitment to these achievements.

“With the tremendous increase in the number of applications to university this year, we are delighted with the success of our pupils.”
