The event, which took place at the Sidley sanctuary, has become a well-loved annual event for the charity.

Barby said: “It was amazing, considering the atrocious weather. I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone who helped and contributed.”

Barby would like to make it clear that is not associated with the animal welfare charity shop at Little Common, in Bexhill.

She said: Due to the number of enquiries I had at Sunday’s event and people asking in my charity shop, in St Leonards Road, Bexhill, I want to make it clear I cam nothing to do with the Little Common shop and people wanting to make donations can contact me directly or bring them to the St Leonards Road, shop.”

Barby was named as ‘Hero to Animals’ in the 1066 Community Awards, run by the Observer group in October.
