Firefighters from Battle put out some garden waste that had ‘accidentally’ caught fire in Ewhurst Green on Sunday afternoon (July 31).

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crews from Battle fire station were sent to Village Street at around 2.50pm.

Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the accidental fire in the open in a pile of garden waste, a fire service spokesman said.

Later that day, Bexhill firefighters were mobilised to Ninfield following reports of a car leaking fuel at 5.15pm.

The crew used an environmental pack to make the area on Ninfield Road safe for the public.
