Battle pair arrested over alley attack on woman

Two people from Battle were arrested after an assault on a woman in an alleyway.

The victim was walking through the alleyway between Robertson Street and Claremont in Hastings when a fight between a group of people broke out at 1am.

She suffered a black eye, bruised ribs and bruising to her arms and chest and went to hospital for treatment.

A 45-year-old man from Battle was arrested on suspicion of assault and resisting arrest and a 45-year-old Battle woman was arrested on suspicion of assault.

They were both questioned and bailed until May 27.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police by emailing 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or ring 101 quoting serial 76 of 30/04.
