Personal touch: Being a full time mum of two young children and running a busy cleaning company i don’t have a lot of spare time but the wonders of the internet, Facebook and mobile phones i seem to keep my head above water! Having lived in Beckley 36 years i would like to think i qualify as local girl now! I have seen the village change so much over the years from losing the post office, butchers and a pub. On a positive note the primary school has grown with a fantastic ofsted report. Beckley playgroup has become a Pre school / nursery and has a successful weekly baby group with great Netmum feedback. So i would like welcome any new residents to Beckley and hope you will enjoy living in the village as much as i do. Should you have new neighbour’s please inform them of this column or if they use Facebook get them to join Beckley Village Society so they can get to know what happening in Beckley.

Better Beckley Project :The group met up in early January and have agreed that a topographical survey needs to be carried out. This would establish the feasibility of the various popular suggestions from residents’ response to last September’s questionnaire. Commissioning the survey is being explored. We would welcome more people being involved in this village lead project.
Parked cars: Please do not mount the pavement when parking along main street. The pavement is for people to walk on, when pushing a pram you should never have to push your child either into the hedge or the main road to pass the vehicle. The local police have been told about this in the village and car owners can get fined.
