A schoolgirl is celebrating numerous ballet achievements and dance awards this year.
Nirvana Jamieson, a pupil from Beckley Primary School, will be leaving East Sussex in September to study ballet full-time at Elmhurst School for Dance – a prestigious vocational and associate school of the Birmingham Royal Ballet.
She was awarded the government-funded music and dance scholarship for the most talented dancers in the country, one of very few handed out by the top four chosen ballet schools.
Last month saw Nirvana dancing across three counties, competing her solo dances at the Ore Stage Festival and the All England Regional Dance Festival in Kent. She also attended and was successful at an audition in London for the Queensland Ballet Company’s production of La Sylphide this summer at the London Coliseum, which runs from August 1 to 8.
Nirvana is also dancing at the All England Dance National Finals at the Hackney Empire in July and at her dance school’s annual show at Venue Arc Theatre at Ark William Parker Academy on July 18. She would like to thank all her primary school and dance teachers, her friends and family for their support.
