A very warm sunny Saturday saw large crowds turn out to make Beckley schools traditional summer fete a huge success. Ponies were ridden , plates were smashed, coconuts were won, castles were bounced and cakes were consumed.
Beckley schools fete was a real community affair with representatives from many local societies and charities all running stalls. Arena displays included Zumba, line dancing, Rye dance and maypole dancing.
One of the stars of the fete was Mrs Ford (headteacher) who bravely took to the stocks. The fete was rounded off by the inspirational Mandy Botting who had pledged to have her hair shaved off if she raised £1200 for cancer research.
In fact the total she helped to raise was an amazing £4000 all going to cancer research.
500 balloons were released in Cancer Research colours with a prize for the balloon that goes the furthest.
The school made £3000 which it will be using to purchase play equipment for their brand new reception classroom.
