A mother of three children who sustained critical injuries after a car collided with her and her family in Upper Lake, Battle, yesterday afternoon (Sunday, March 19) has died in hospital.

Sergeant Peter Verney, of the Sussex Police roads policing unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family at what is a very difficult time, and we would ask people to respect their privacy while they try to come to terms with what has happened.”

Emergency services were called to Upper Lake, Battle, at 1.55pm where a black Volkswagen Beetle travelling west had collided with the 37-year-old mother and her family.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and have repeated an appeal for any witnesses to contact them.

They can do so by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk, reporting details online at sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal, or phoning 101, quoting Operation Willington.
