On Sunday 7 April Councillors gathered on the Recreation grounds to decide where to place the new seats acquired. The Job of siting accomplished they were then concreted into place by Les, Pete and Rod; so that now more people can sit and enjoy the space
Friday 12 April At Trinity Methodist Church Broad Oak beginning at 7pm there will be an informal evening explaining Methodist History, Theology and Practice. This has been organised by Rev Ian Pruden.
Mothers Union from Brede & Rye are travelling to Chichester Cathedral
On Saturday 13 March For the Diocesan Mother’s Union Commissioning Service. They will be joining others from Sussex some to sing in the choir others to carry the banners. It will be a very special occasion for all Mother’s Union Members who attend. Their mission this year is Sowing the Seed, more about this from the Diocesan President Chris Emson and also about the role Mother’s Union plays in the community will be in next week’s column.

Monday 15 April Age Uk Brede Community Club are going out for the day to Orchard Farm in Hurstgreen, lets hope the weather improves for them and that they enjoy their day as after about 15 years with Age Uk Community Club Assistant Jeanette Beaney is retiring as she becomes an Octogenarian, she has been really valued by staff and clients at the Club and they will all miss her. The Schools and uniformed groups also return today for the start of their. Summer Term (Ha! Ha!) Rainbows 4pm - 5pm, Brownies 5.30pm – 7pm meet in the small hall in the Village Hall where Whist will take place in the large hall at 7.30pm. In the Scout Hut Beavers return at 5.30pm- 6.30pm and they are followed by cubs at 6.30pm – 8pm
Tuesday 16 April in the Village Hall the Painting for pleasure group meet at 9.30am some samples of their work are on a board in the Village Hall, they are very good. The mobile library will be in Oakhill Drive from 3pm –3.40pm and Reedswood Road 3.50pm – 4.15pm
Wednesday 17th You will have already received a copy of the Brede Newsletter and the A5 poster contained in it April Brede Parish Assembly 7.30pm Village Hall – come and have your say and listen to what is happening in your Village. It is really important that you attend as much as anything to support your Councillors in making the right choices for you. You will also be aware that two new Councillors are needed as stated in the Newsletter along with information about becoming one, younger residents are under represented so please do not be shy ring Lesley 01424 882800 for more information or if you are interested.
Thursday 18 April Stretch and Tone will begin at 9.30 until 10.30pm at the Village Hall In Beckley Village Centre The Rye and District National Trust are holding the last talk of the season with Heather Woodward entitled ‘Tales of Beatrix Potter’
Friday 19 April the weekly Brede Farmers Market takes place fro 10am –12noon a variety of stalls including fresh vegetables, meat & fish etc.
7.30pm the short mat bowlers take their turn in the Hall.
The Champions of Brede Draw has taken place and the winners for this month are: 1st No. 79 Mrs J Mooks £40, 2nd No 62 Brede Lunch Club £30, 3rd No 2 Mr E Warne £20, 4th Mrs T Reilly £15 Anybody can join the Champions of Brede. The Organiser Philip requests that you ask family and friend to join too join please invite your family and friends to join too. The annual membership is £12.00 but if you join part way through the year there will be prorated reductions. Draws take place at the end of the month either at the Farmers Market or Luncheon Club in Brede.
