Friday 20 June Pilates begins at 9am then the Wea Practical Gardening Course from 11.15 – 1.15pm both in Udimore Community Hall. The weekly Farmers Market in Brede Village Hall with all the fresh groceries, fish, meat and dairy products as well as hand made cards and plants. The Market is open from 10am –12pm. Short Mat Bowls are in the Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm and always hope new members will join them, just pop along. Happy times ahead as it is Cocktail Night at The Rainbow Trout, I have heard they have a new menu of cocktails to try.

Saturday 21 June As I gave advance warning about today’s events last week, I hope everyone has managed to decide what they want to do. The Friends of St George’s are holding a Coffee morning at the home of Mr John Crook it is from 10am – 12pm. His home is next to St George’s and opposite the Red Lion. There will be an opportunity to have delicious scones with the coffee or tea and buy knick-knacks, cakes and take part in a raffle.

On behalf of the Sara Lea trust there is an open garden at 11 High Street Rye, from 11am – 4pm.

Winchelsea secret Gardens are open 1.00 – 5pm. Tickets are possibly available fro the shop.

There is also a Midsummer open garden in Playden and one in Fairlight any enquiries please telephone 01424 813149.

Today also has Northiam Bonfire Society organising the Midsummer Festival in the Playing Fields 11.00 – 9pm, it includes a beer festival, dog show, funfair and live music. The Trinity Methodist are having a Talent Evening in Pett at 7.00pm.

Sunday 22 June the Family Eucharist begins at 9.30am in St Georges Brede, families are always welcome and they have a children’s toy box for them to use. Mr Stephen Hanson leads the Methodist Church worship at 10.30am in Broad Oak. Our Cricket team has been doing rather well, but we still wish them luck, as they play against Hurst Green this week in an away match.

In the bar of the Rainbow Trout this Sundays music comes from the band Waking Snakes playing at 8.30pm.

Monday 23 June Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club will meet at 10.30am. At 11am Janice and Sue are returning with the guitar and the Hammer Dulcimer, last time some members of WI visited and heard the instrument and saw that it was placed on a stand much like a xylophone, but it was struck with curved slender hammers. If anyone wishes to drop in for coffee and listen they will be very welcome a donation to the group would also be very welcome. This evening the uniformed groups meet beginning with the Rainbows In the small Hall at 4.00pm followed at 5.30pm by the Brownies.

In the Scout Hut Beavers begin at 5.30pm to 6.30pm and from 6.30 – 8.00pm Cubs. Both of the latter groups have vacancies for children to join them

Guides meet at Udimore Hall at 7.15pm.

The Whist players gather In Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm for their weekly game of cards. The car park always looks so full so they must enjoy themselves.

Tuesday 24 June At 9am Pilates is in Udimore Hall. The Brede Luncheon Club meet 12.30pm in Brede Village Hall for their delicious monthly lunch and friendly companionship. The Mobile Library visits Oakhill Drive at 3pm and Reedswood Road at 3.50pm. Brede Parish Council is having a meeting to which the public are invited at 7.30pm in the small hall in Brede Village Hall.

The Rainbow Trout holds it’s Local Kick off for England’s Match on the big screen at 5pm later in the bar at 8pm, for all you Bingo lovers: this evening it is eyes down for Roll over Bingo. Players must be there at the start of the evenings game to take part in the rollover which at present stands at £150.00

Wednesday 25 June Brede Crafters meet at 2pm in Brede Village Hall. Yoga is at Udimore Hall at 7pm. Rother Responders are holding two training sessions on how to use defibrillators and their role the first session is at 7pm and the second at 8pm in Brede Village Hall. Our own defibrillator is at the Fire Station but I’m not sure if anyone in the Village is trained to use it. Now is your chance to learn if you feel you can help someone in our community. Also tonight a new group starts called ‘Pilgrim,’ it will be held this month at the Rectory from 7.30pm – 8.30pm. The hope is that different homes will be used as the months go on. Pilgrim has eight stages, four ‘Follow’ stages and four ’Grow’ each stage has six sessions. Each stage stands on its own It is designed for people who wish to enquire about the Christian Faith and as a refresher for those who have been practising Christians for a long time. Thursday 26 June Stretch and Tone at 9.30am with Sally in Brede Village Hall. At the side of the Hall the Doctors Surgery is at midday in the side room of Brede Village Hall. The Mobile Library visits Brede in the Village Hall car park at 1.25pm.

Sunday June 29 A Teddy Bears Parachute Jump and family fun afternoon at St George’s Church Brede, from 2pm. Take your Teddy or other cuddly toy and watch it parachute from the Church Tower. There will be other games to try and another opportunity for delicious cakes with tea.
