Afternoon tea: The Brede & Udimore Overseas Afternoon Tea raised over £600 and the amount of delicious cakes on the table made ones eyes bigger than the belly. Those who did the catering did a fantastic job as it all looked and tasted wonderful. They also made over £600 to send to the Ebola crisis.

Diaries ready: Please have your calendars and diaries handy over the next few weeks as there is so much going on and you may whish to jot some events down.

Friday 28 November: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon. Philip Romani will be at the Market from today and throughout December to collect the £12 Champions of Brede Money for the year. If you cannot make it there please contact him 01424 883420 or Nita Frankly 01424 882095 to organise collection or to set up online banking or a standing order. It is a big fundraiser for our Village Hall, which at the moment needs quite a bit of work on it so if you feel it is a way to keep this building going Philip would love to hear from you. Join up soon and be entered into December’s big draw. The Wea Practical Gardening: is in Udimore Community Hall, 11.15am – 1.15pm. Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers set up at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall, they are a very friendly group but are in need of more players. Saturday 29 November: St Mary’s Church Udimore Grand Christmas Fayre 10am – 12pm in Udimore Community Hall. Great Dixter in Northiam is holding it’s annual Christmas Fair today and tomorrow 10am – 4pm local traders will be selling their wares in the Medieval Hall, Great barn and outbuildings entrance is £5 per person under 16’s free. Wild Woodland Weekend Club 10pm to 1pm Forest school activities for 6 –11 year olds. Held in Private woodland at Swallowtail Farm Hobbs Lane Beckley. TN31 6TT The group meets every last Saturday of the month for activities such as woodland crafts, camp cooking and den making etc. The cost is £ 10 per child and booking is essential via www.sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/whatson or email rhnoffice@sussex.org.uk or phone 01797 227784

Mrs Dawn Novis will take this morning’s service at the Broad oak Methodist Church at 10.30am. St Mary’s Church Udimore will have Holy Communion at 8am. Monday 1st December: I wonder how many adults will be as excited as the children to open an Advent calendar today! Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club: begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm. After Coffee they will have a choice of playing dominoes, reading the news playing Who am I. later Ian will be entertaining the Clients with his musical talents. Beavers are In the Scout Hut and welcome Boys and girls from 6years old they meet from 5.30pm to 6.30pm Cubs meet from 6.30 – 8.00pm. the latter group has vacancies for children to join, the Contact is Colin 01424 852413 Guides meet at Udimore Community Hall at 7.15pm. Tuesday 2 December: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9am Painting for Pleasure is at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall and Messy Church is at 4pm in Udimore Community Hall

Wednesday 3 December: the Design with Flowers Group are joining the Peasmarsh flower club at 10am to do Christmas related designs, swags, wreaths and table decorations the cost is £3 for non members and anything needed such as greenery and the basic wreath shape or rope must be brought with those attending. There will be a sales table with some useful items on it. Any Queries please contact Deidre Bull 01797230208 or me as above. The Brede Branch of Mother’s Union meet at York Cottage in Pottery Lane at 2.30pm and will include a raffle for MU funds. Vocality is at 2pm in Udimore Community Hall as is Yoga at 7pm. Brede School Christmas Fair is from 3pm-4pm in the School. I am sure they would love your support.

Christmas Fayre: Once upon a Time a very special Christmas Fayre was held in the Red Lion. Wednesday 3rd of December is this year’s date, when the pub will be full of stalls selling everything from Chutneys to Jewellery. A food stall outside will keep you fed with Pulled Pork Rolls y Battle Town Band will keep you entertained with Christmas Carols! All the Festive Fun begins at 5pm and will go through until 10pm.

Thursday 4 December: Sally starts her Stretch and Tone: class at 9.30am in Brede Village Hall. the Cranbrook Town Band will give a night of musical entertainment in aid of our Poppy appeal at 7.45pm tickets at the door. Please do try and support this event it is very enjoyable.

The Christmas Tree Festival begins with a Christmas Concert at 7pm it will include a performance by the Mad Jack Mummers, contemporary Nativity story by the students of Bexhill High, followed by Carols. Tickets for the event are £ 7.50 for adults and £3.00 for children and include a drink and a mincepie/sausage roll they are available from the Rectory or at the Farmers Market. Saturday 6 December: at 2.15pm St Nicholas will process through the Village. Arriving at St George’s Church for an hour of festive fun. Spot the mouse and a craft activity table, games and competitions and of course a chance to meet St Nick. The Festival begins at 10am –4pm there will be over 30 trees celebrating Christmas around the World to enjoy viewing. There will also be many stalls with Christmas ware and there is an opportunity to savour seasonal refreshments throughout the day. It is also open tomorrow. The Bell Ringers will have their Lights of Love tree outside St George’s and if you wish a loved one to be remembered then contact Andrew Burchett 01424 882727 or see him at the Friday Farmers Market. Tonight at 7.30pm the Ballroom and Sequence dancers will take to the floor in Brede Village Hall.
