Sad News: I regret that I have more sad news to tell you. Margaret Baker of Chitcombe Road then latterly of Roselands Brede passed away mid January and I heard last week that Michael Rowan from Brede had also suddenly passed away. I know that many in the community will be grieving at this time, and others in the community will have them in their thoughts and prayers.

Friday 30 January: Pilates is at 9am in Udimore Community Hall. Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall, It had a very ambient feeling last week as there were many people enjoying their coffee whist talking to friends. Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers set up at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall, they would welcome new members.

Saturday 31 January: at 7.30 for 8pm in Robertsbridge Village Hall there is going to be an illustrated talk. Sir Ernest Shackleton’s new biographer Michael Smith will recall the historic explorers Antarctic expeditions, Tickets are £5 from Judges Bakery or Jane.triton@btinternet.com and 01580 880248

Sunday 1 February: the Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125 8.00am Holy Communion will be celebrated at St Mary’s Udimore. St George’s Church Sung Eucharist starts at 9.30am and Father Martin can be reached on 01424 883408. D. Hampson will lead the service at the Methodist Church in Broad oak at 10.30am

Monday 2 February: Age Uk East Sussex – Brede Community Club begins at 10.30am – 3.30pm. please contact Maureen the Organiser for more information phone 01424 883282 or 07850 987130 She would be especially pleased to hear from you if you are phoning to join the group as it has many vacancies. Whist Players will meet in Brede Village Hall at 7.30pm. Uniformed groups - Please contact the respective leaders if you wish your child to join this term. The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, the Brownies meet from 5pm – 6.30pm for girls 7-11 years old. You can also contact Hayley 07525168770 The Brede Scout sections are all held in the Scout Hut Stubbs Lane, Beavers welcome Boys and girls from 6 years old they meet from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. Cubs meet from 6.30 – 8.00pm there are also vacancies for children to join, the Contact is Colin Ward 01424 852413. Guides meet at Udimore Community Hall at 7.15pm. Contact Hayley as above. The Whist player’s will meet at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall.

Tuesday 3 February: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9am Brede Painting for Pleasure group meet in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am. Messy Church is at 4pm in Udimore Community Hall and welcomes children with their parents, to play and eat tea with new friends and hear about Jesus. At the Scout Hut in Stubbs Lane from 7pm – 9pm 1st Brede Scouts meet and it is for any young person 10½ or over the contact is Andy Bishop 07833065028 The Rainbow Trout has Bingo this evening; eyes down at 8.30pm.

Wednesday 4 February: Annual General Meeting of Brede Mother’s Union at 2.30pm in the Parish Room Waterworks Lane Brede. New Members are needed as well as wanted. Yoga Udimore Community Hall at 7pm

Thursday 5 February: Sally is in Brede Village Hall at 9.30am with Stretch and Tone.

Friday 6 February: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. Brede’s Short Mat Bowlers set up at 7.30pm in Brede Village Hall. The Rainbow Trout are holding a MR & Mrs Quiz at 8.30pm – how well do you know your partner? enough to win a meal for 2?. If you think so then pop along and try this fun game for men v women. Last year it was great fun.
