Coach Outing: on behalf of Brede Friendly Circle I am arranging a coach outing on Thursday 9 July leaving the Village Hall at 8.15am. We are going to Saville Gardens in Windsor Great Park having a guided tour and lunch then travelling on to Runnymede where we will board a boat that will carry us along the Thames whist having a talk about the Magna Carta events that happened along our journey. We will also enjoy a cream tea aboard. The coast of the trip which is inclusive of all the above mentioned is £35.00 payable to Brede Friendly Circle: via me by April 14 We have a few seats available so please contact me ASAP if you are interested in going.

Another Loss: I was sad to read and hear about the passing of Aubrey Sinden. I first met him over 40 years ago when I went along to join Brede Players where he was Chairman and Director. The play was The Poltergeist and I happened to be cast as the obsessed daughter. He was an avid supporter of the group for very many years until his health deteriorated. He was our local Punch & Judy Man and was often seen and heard at summer fêtes and at Children’s Christmas Parties, he was also a magician and delighted many with his tricks. He had reached the good age of 90 and recently moved to Peasmarsh Place, however it does not stop you missing them and feeling a loss at what they gave personally and to the community. Please put him and his family in your prayers. His Celebration of Life Service was yesterday but sadly I did not know in time to put it in the column

Rye & District Association: in support of the National Trust is looking for more people to join as members. They formed in 1980 generally meet in Brede Village Hall on the 3rd Thursday of the month and offer an extensive programme of activities and events that are enjoyable as well as interesting and also raise funds much needed for our local National Trust properties. If you are interested please contact either the membership secretary Catherine Frewen 01797 252123 or Marion Brunt the Chairman 01424 883566 either of them will be happy to give you more information

Do you know: I have a lovely area to look out on as I write the column, at last the sun has appeared and ahead of me are bare branched trees and some evergreen, one beautiful magnolia is just about to burst open. There is a Collared Dove strutting around the lawn and the blue tits, green finches and a marsh tit are busy taking food from the bird feeders, it really looks spring like. The wind though is bitter as I have been out in it. The daffodils around the Village look really splendid and certainly brighten up the area on the dull days, as does the mass of primroses out this year, I do not remember seeing them so prolific. I am sure we all appreciate their beauty, such a shame that some thoughtless people are still dropping litter to mar some of the places.

Cat Missing: Tricia & Les have been searching for their ginger and white semi haired large cat since December 8th 2015 it had returned on previous days with another cat which was dark grey in colour to their home in Chitcombe Road. They miss him very much and if you have any information can you telephone them 01424 882048 or 07769712502 thank you.
