BUCKSWOOD School at Guestling achieving GCSE results higher than the national average.

Students achieving the top A* - A grades were 3% higher than national average, and those achieving A* - C were in line with the national figures at 68%.

Headteacher, Mark Redsell commented, “We are delighted with this year’s GCSE performance. My teachers and I having been working extremely hard to continue to raise standards and my congratulations and thanks go to them and their pupils for this years results”

He went on “The Buckswood student body is made up of fifty percent local children and fifty percent from 48 nations around the globe.

“Many of the international students are taking exams in their third of fourth language, so achieving A – C grades is an incredible achievement”.

Notable UK students included Eleanor McDonald with 5A* and 4A grades; Jessica Wilson with 3A*5A and one 1B grades and outstanding international results from Maria Peunte (Spain) who achieved 1A* and 5A’s and Christian Bruhn (Germany) who achieved 2A’s and 3B’s, studying for their GCSEs in one year.

Buckswood also offers a range of other qualifications, including IGCSEs, ECDL and LAMDA examinations, and results in those are also improved on last years performance.

Headmaster Giles Sutton said: “The school is going from strength to strength at all levels, and I am very pleased with this years results”.

The new term will get underway for the Buckswood Sixth Form with a University Fair at St Mary in the Castle, Hastings on Wednesday September 25, during the afternoon.

So far, fifteen Universities have signed up to attend and sixth form students from other colleges are welcome. Students also achieved a record high at A Levels with 54% of students receiving top grades, and 76% of students receiving A* - C grades.
