Burns with Brass - Lions raise money for cancer treatment

Rye Lions  presented their 10th Nearly Burns Night brass band concert in Beckley village hall last Friday evening. The audience were welcomed with hot mince pies and mulled wine. Sussex Brass with conductor Steve sporting an appropriate kilt, then entertained them with a selection of music which this year included tunes from World War One to mark the 100 year anniversary of the outbreak of war. As has become a tradition the evening finished with Sussex by the Sea and Auld Langs Syne.''Rye Lions President Terry Cobby thanked Sussex Brass for a superb evenings entertainment, the audience for supporting the event and his fellow Lions for all their hard work. He went on to say that the evening had raised approximately �600 and the Lions would increase the amount to �1000 to be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.''The Lions would like to invite any adult in the area to join them in their fund raising activities. We have fun raising money for those less fortunate and also enjoy several social events. For more info
