Meeting - The Burwash Weald & Burwash Common Residents association will be holding a general meeting on Monday evening from 7.30pm in the Burwash Common Pavilion. John Barkshire and Patrick Fletcher will be there to give a talk on the villages from 1860 to 1910. Bateman’s - The head gardener at Bateman’s will be giving tours of the grounds at Bateman’s, one time home of author Rudyard Kipling. He will give an insight in to how Kipling transformed this quiet corner of Sussex into a garden for his family, his writing and a retreat from celebrity. Normal entry fees apply plus £10 for the tour which will include a cream tea at the end. To book a place from now until 28 June call Bateman’s on 01435 882302.
Walk - Also at Bateman’s there is to be a special Midsummer Walk & Supper. It takes place on Tuesday 24th from 6pm. Join the warden for a guided walk of the 330 acre estate, following the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling. The walk will end with a hearty supper in the Mulberry Restaurant. You are advised to wear walking boots or wellies and suitable clothing. To book a place call Bateman’s 882302. It costs £25 per person.
Reunion - A reunion of former Robertsbridge Secondary School pupils who were there from 1975 -1980 and will be celebrating their 50th Birthday this year are invited to go along and find old friends, catch up with who has done what and is where etc. The reunion is being held on 5 July in Robertsbridge.
