The 1066 business awards dinner was recently held at the Bannatyne Hotel and Spa in Hastings, with the Federation of Small Businesses sponsoring the ‘Best Start up Business’ category.
Hosted by Beverley Thompson, the event proved a glittering success with the FSB category winner being Recruitment South East and Highly Commended awards going to Booter Scooter and Write Power
Recruitment South East, and FSB member company, is a fast growing company with strong team values and corporate social responsibility. Booter Scooter offer an innovative ‘you drink’, we drive’ service where they drive your car home after an evening out.
Write Power offers letter writing services for businesses and individuals: putting your concerns into effective wording to get results.
Kevin Byrne of Checkatrade.com provided an inspirational speech that encouraged businesses to aim high and to think beyond the ordinary.
To support his point that business owners should take time out to appreciate their colleagues and employees, he personally thanked FSB 1066 and East Sussex FSB Chairman, Brett McLean for being his very good friend.
The FSB’s special guest Daniel Martina of Gravity Designs, a digital media company, achieved a Highly Commended in the Young Achiever of the Year category. FSB member’s Millbrook Design and Print won a number of awards including Best Small Business of the Year and overall Best Business of the Year in the 1066 area.
The Own Grown initiative, which the FSB supports, had its own Award for the best business offering jobs and work experiences to local young people and the unemployed. The Award went to the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill.
