Students from Robertsbridge Community College, enrolled in the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze award, have been working hard to go the course.

The group met for sessions which included road safety, country code, map reading and first aid. Each team member has 3 subjects to complete; Skilled, Physical and Voluntary. Examples include football, netball, swimming, cooking, DJ, sports leader, work in a voluntary shop, care home, campaigning.

The group completed a practice expedition around Chiddingly and two weeks later completed their assessed expedition on the South Downs, during which they had to complete a project on a chosen group subject. The students now have to complete their projects and give a presentation to parents, DofE leaders and an East Sussex assessor. If the final stage is completed to the assessor’s satisfaction, they will attend an awards ceremony in February 2016.
