Crew of the Mary Stanford remembered

Have your say

Serving RNLI crewmen put roses on the graves of lifeboatmen who lost their lives in the Mary Stanford disaster following the annual service at Rye Harbour Church on Sunday.

The Mary Stanford Lifeboat capsized off Rye in stormy seas on November 1928 after responding to a distress call.

All hands were lost and it remains the worst UK lifeboat disaster.
