POLICE are seeking a motorist after a motorcyclist was injured at Rye on Sunday.

A 45-year-old Kent man received serious but non-life-threatening injuries after his silver Buell motorbike was in collision with a white Ford Escort Van on the A268.

The biker was taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings for treatment.

A police spokesman said: “The white Ford Escort Van was travelling southbound and crossed the carriageway to avoid a silver Fiat car that was pulling out of a car park and in the process collided with the silver Buell that was travelling northbound after leaving the roundabout.

PC Stuart Kenway of East Sussex Road Policing Unit said: “We are keen to trace the driver of the silver Fiat who did not stop at the scene of the incident.

“If you witnessed the collision or have any other information that could help police with their investigation please call 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial 0669 of 02/10.”
