A SPATE of burglaries in Peasmarsh and the surrounding area has prompted police to hold a crime prevention event at Jempsons supermarket today (Friday) between 10am - 3pm.

Officers will be offering crime prevention advice, a chance to discuss local concerns, home security visits from Rother district’s Crime Prevention Officer and free UV security marking pens.

PCSO Becky Unicombe said: “Local residents have expressed a concern following recent burglaries but I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to deter and prevent this crime locally.

“This includes proactive patrols by both plain clothed and uniformed officers in the area, crime prevention advice and free property marking to both victims and anyone else who requests it and events such as this Friday’s.

“If you are unable to get to this event between 10am and 3pm please do not hesitate contacting your local officer via 101 to organise a visit.”

With the lighter evenings police are also urging home owners not to leave doors or windows open.
