RYE residents gave a heart-warming response after a charity box was stolen from Glass Etc at Ropewalk.
Thieves distracted staff a week ago on Sunday and made off with the box which contained up to £500.
The shop, which is run by Antiques Roadshow expert Andy McConnell, is a strong supporter of the charity, which helps disabled people in the Rye area, People make donations in return for free valuations,
This week Andy said there had been an overwhelmingly generous response from people when they heard the news.
He said: “People have been coming in and making donations or giving us items to sell for ARRCC.
“They have been handing us 10 and 20 pound notes, wanting to make up for the loss the charity suffered.
“It has been really heart-warming and speaks volumes about the majority of people in Rye.”
