One East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service appliance from The Ridge, Hastings, was sent to put out the hedge on Rye Road at around 8.30am.

On arrival, it turned out to be a false alarm.

Last night (Monday, August 8), Battle firefighters were sent to Station Road, Crowhurst, following reports of a digger on fire at about 5.25pm.

The crew used one hose reel jet to tackle the fire.
